A few weeks back I read an article on The Foot Down blog about the demise of the fixed gear scene – read it here – which had me concerned. I love riding fixed and although I’ve now got a number of geared bikes as well I’ll always reach for my track bike when riding around London, however it did get me thinking, is the scene disappearing?
Well that worry got blown to sh*t after yesterday’s criterium race ‘The Hunt’ organised by Max from Tokyo Fixed Gear - with 60 riders from London, Bristol, Leeds, Amsterdam, Athens, San Francisco and many more it was a clear example of just how strong the scene still is – I’m sure anyone who was there will agree it was a quality event and I’m sure it’ll be back even bigger and better in 2013.
Our good friend Dom was representing Brother Cycles on our Reynolds frame:
He spanked the first round and made it through to the final – consisting of 30 hardened riders from around the globe. After crashes, rain and 30 minutes of an impressively fast pace Dom came in around the middle of the pack – a really impressive result and the first of more to come we’re sure. (I don’t have full details of who made the podium, however well done to those that did and I’m sure there will be a ton of ceverage online telling you better details)
As well as some great riding there were of course some sexy bikes on display – pick of the bunch were this Pelizzoli:
A beautiful build from Ricky Feather:
And this mad Bike Co 14 paintjob:
All in all a fantastic day, the sun even decided to treat us to a spectacular show over London on our ride home:
Check out our full set of pics HERE and hopefully see you all next year.

Really sounds and looks like a terrific event. And some very nice fixies. Hope to be there 2013. Thanks for sharing this.
