Allday SingleSpeed Gravel Beer Run Bike

At the start of 2019 we moved Brother into a new home – bringing our office, workshop and storage all under one roof for the first time. Although the brand was born in London, Brother HQ is now based on a farm in the rolling countryside of Kent.

During the move we unearthed a few boxloads of unused components from over the years – so we decided to put them to use on a 2019 Allday singlespeed workshop bike for coffee and beer runs along the local farm tracks and trails that we now have on our doorstep…

The trails around us aren’t super technical however they do get rough at times, so we’ve fitted some 38c Schwalbe G-Ones. Although the “official” max clearance on the new Allday is 35c we managed to fit some slightly bigger rubber on there without things getting too tight:

This bike’s most important use is beer runs so we’ve put a trusty Restrap Rando Bag up front – the 11 litre version will fit a 6 pack without being too big and cumbersome. I’ve found that the medium Pelago commuter rack is a perfect match for this bag – attaching easily to the fork’s rack mounts with plenty of tyre and brake clearance.

The 2019 Allday now features canti-bosses – these can be unscrewed if not used however we’ve fitted TRP CX8.4 mini v-brakes to this bike. They’ve got pretty impressive stopping power which comes in handy when the front bag is loaded up.

The drivetrain is rock solid, courtesy of some SRAM Omniums and an 18t Halo Clickster freewheel – however we might replace the 48t chainring with something a little smaller for an easier ride. To finish this bike off we’ve thrown on an old Selle Italia Flite saddle (still the best in my opinion), SBC Cycles waterbottle and a Mash SF stem cap for some extra radness!
