Brother in the Wild North | Sold Out!

Location: Lancashire, UK
Dates: Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd July 2023
Price: £80 per person – bell tent and campervan tickets also available

We’re excited to announce that our 2 day bikepacking, gravel grinding, adventure seeking festival – Brother in the Wild – will head to the north of England in 2023!

Across 2 days, 3 routes will explore the Rough Stuff Fellowship’s northern backyard (check out RSF archive p.47, p.130, p.162, p.164). Each route follows a mix of terrain that will show you the best trails Lancashire has to offer. Cobbles, quarries, bridleways and old train lines crisscross tower climbs, hidden reservoirs and old Lancashire towns to give you a true sense of what the North has to offer.

The Routes
Day 1 has 2 routes, both challenging with the longer route providing a chance to experience old coal roads, wind farm gravel tracks and parts of the Pennine Bridleway, plus a climb up the infamous ‘Rake’ (National Hill Climb).

Day 2 is more relaxed, staying local to basecamp and exploring the local follys and castle, including a trip up the impressive mast climb on Winter Hill. Expect gravel, mud and cobbles on all the routes!

We’re also encouraging people to tip their caps to the Rough Stuff Fellowship. Ride in wool, bring your old school rig, panniers or waxed ponchos; there may even be some prizes to win!

Dan Monaghan / Cadence Images / Route Creator: “I’ve tried to create routes that give people an experience of what we have up north. Lots of views across the moors, 3 tower climbs and a visit to the mast. Both days are different, with a longer route on day 1 that shouldn’t be underestimated. I hope everyone enjoys the riding up North, it’s very different to our other Brother events but should be equally as special.”

Basecamp
Home for the weekend is a campsite at the amazing Rivington Brewery. Based at the foot of Winter Hill, expect great northern hospitality, stunning views and fantastic beers. As well as the impressive tap room Rivington also offers mouth-watering food from a number of independent food trucks – including sourdough pizzas, burgers and fresh coffee in the morning.

As well as the rides, guests will also be treated to some fantastic campsite entertainment in the form of Friday night film screenings and some inspiring bikepacking related talks. We’ve also collaborated with some local brands who’ll be getting involved over the weekend – with Outdoor Provisions providing a feed station, Restrap showing some of their latest films and the team at Keep Pedalling Manchester helping out with last minute mechanicals and spares!
