This summer, as has become tradition, we’re heading to Germany for one of our favourite events of the year – Brother in the Wild Munich! A gravel grinding, adventure seeking, bikepacking weekend in collaboration with the good folk at Guten Biken.
What’s new for 2025? After the success of last year’s new campsite we’re excited to announce that this year’s event will now give guests two nights camping out in the wild! We’re now inviting everyone to our wilderness campsite on Friday night – get to know your fellow riders around the campfire and then get straight into the good stuff Saturday morning with some amazing routes taking riders into entirely new areas.
The event will be a 2 day ride and campout set at our Brother in the Wild basecamp, 30km south of Munich – easily accessible by train or bike. The main Saturday route will take riders west towards Lake Staffelsee, a previously unexplored area known as Das Blaue Land (The Blue Land). Here, riders will enjoy the best gravel roads, forest trails and single track that the region has to offer, all the time with stunning views towards the foothills of the Alps.
The main route will be approximately 70km, however, a longer option taking riders into the Ammergauer Alps is also available for those that want a bigger challenge. Equally, there is also a 35km option taking you to a local lake and beach club for anyone wanting a more chilled out day! Riders can switch between routes throughout the day.
As always, the routes will pass a number of restaurants and Bavarian beer houses to stop for food and drink. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Brother in the Wild without the opportunity to cool off with a swim in a beautiful lake or river along the way.
The ride will finish back at basecamp where the group will spend a relaxing night camping under the stars. We will provide the following in camp over the weekend:
– A bar serving soft drinks and beer / not inc. in ticket price
– Freshly cooked dinner on Friday and Saturday night (see ticket options below)
– Campfires and good vibes until late into the night
– Buffet continental style breakfast
– Plenty of coffee to get you going in the morning!
A note on the campsite: this campsite is beautiful but basic. We have drinking water and toilets available, however, there are no showers. Instead, guests can take a refreshing dip in the River Loisach which flows alongside the campsite. This is an authentic bikepacking experience!

On the second day participants will pack up their kit, load their bikes and set off on a network of cycle paths and river trails that wind their way back into Munich. Today’s route will show guests the best of scenic Bavaria, with rolling hills, river swim spots and lakeside restaurantss – 50km and 80km route options are available.
Sunday will finish at the Guten Biken shop where guests are welcome to hang out, clean their bikes and enjoy a final ice cold beer of the weekend!
Optional Group Ride to Basecamp – Friday 27th June @ 4pm
Anyone wishing to ride to the campsite as part of a group can meet at Guten Biken on Friday afternoon to do so as part of a group! We will provide a direct 35km route for those wishing to do this. This is also a good opportunity to pick up any last minute spares ahead of the weekend.
