PSA on Inclusivity and Diversity at Brother Events.
.
We want to see everyone represented at our events, and we want everyone to feel welcome at our events. @wizard.works hosted a panel discussion on inclusivity within the cycling world at Brother in the Wild Dorset last month with @pedalling.to.and.fro @fasted500 and @tay.velo and those that attended know how powerful and engaging this fireside conversation was to listen to - you can feel it in this photo by @getwildmatty !
.
It will certainly not be the last time we engage in these conversations. We learned a lot, we want to do better, and we want to ensure that the social spaces we are reaching, and are a part of, include everyone.
.
Our upcoming event the Big โ€˜Un sold out swiftly, and there is a long and eager waiting list. We are currently opening up 20 extra spots for *POC/BAME riders for next weekendโ€™s event. If you know anyone who would be down for this big ol' offroad challenge, please share this with them! Info about the ride via link in bio and email or DM us to get a ticket.
.
We want to make our events as inclusive as possible, and that is why we are releasing these tickets now, though we do understand that this may not be enough notice for folks this time. So, if you are interested but cannot come to this event, please drop us a line so that we can give you a heads up about upcoming events in the future. If there are other barriers that keep you from attending, let us know what is stopping you (eg child care, travel expenses, not having the right kit) so that we can be better prepared next time to support.

This photo sums up so much that we love about Brother in the Wild - big smiles and even bigger views โค
.
THANK YOU everyone that made it along last weekend - after 18 months of cancelling and postponing it was so satisfying to finally run the event properly and welcome everyone to our basecamp in Dorset. And not just the BITW regulars but also so many new faces this year - as Zahir from @fasted500 said the event welcomes a "right motley crew" of participants, all of whom are welcomed with open arms and made to feel part of the Brother in the Wild family.
.
It was great to hear such positive feedback on the routes, basecamp entertainment, food and drink. It's been 5 years in the making and we feel our hard work is starting to pay off, with BITW becoming the event we'd dreamed of at the start. So, thank you all for your support over the years - from flooded fields to insane thunder storms, cows giving birth and a very angry farmer's mum (the BITW regulars will know what we're talking about ๐Ÿ˜…)
.
Going forward we still have plenty to work on - most importantly continuing our focus on making BITW one of the most inclusive and therefore diverse gravel & bikepacking events in the UK. Next year we will also have a large focus on the environment and how we can reduce our carbon footprint - with transport, food waste and recycling being our key points to focus on. As always we look to our community for support and advice on these important issues so please feel free to comment, DM or email us with your thoughts.
.
Thanks again and we hope to see you all out in the wild soon ๐ŸŒฒ
